On 22 December 2018, Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CIETAC, attended the first Top 100 Real Estate Companies’ Legal Consul Forum (the Forum) upon invitation. The Forum was sponsored by the China Real Estate Association and the China University of Political Science and Law Center for Real Estate Law, and was co-organized by the China Real Estate Association legal Affairs Committee, the China Real Estate Association Mediation Center, and Shanghai City Development (Shenzhen) Law Firm.

The theme of this Forum was legal risk prevention for the real estate companies in transition. From the specific perspective of real estate industry, Mr. Wang Chengjie pointed out that disputes occur frequently in the real estate industry due to the long project term, large scale, significant investment and long industrial chain of real estate construction. At present, the real estate industry may face risks in innovation and transition, strategic adjustment, little understanding of new market, insufficient talent reserve and etc. Large amounts of housing and real estate companies are placing their assets overseas, and most of them are going out for the first time. It can be said that risks are everywhere, and risks are always there. Therefore, it is urgent for housing companies to attach great importance to legal risk prevention. Mr. Wang Chengjie also said that paying high attention to dispute resolution implicates risk prevention in the real estate industry and real estate companies should reach a consensus on making good use of arbitration to resolve real estate and related disputes.

Mr. Wang Chengjie also pointed out that as a leading international arbitration institution with a history of 62 years, CIETAC is willing to help housing companies solve domestic and international disputes with rich arbitration experiences, high-quality arbitrators and high credibility, which will contribute to the steady and long-term development of Chinese real estate industry.

In the Forum, other professional and heated discussions were held around the topics such as "the legal risk management of housing companies in practice ", "the legal cognition of real estate finance in the new era", "the transition of science and technology industry and legal risk management", "the legal risk management of the diversified real estate companies ", "strategic options for real estate companies in transition”, etc.

More than 200 representatives from real estate companies, investment institutions and law firms across the country attended the Forum.
