China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (abbreviated as “CIETAC”) was established in 1956 following the decision of the Central People’s Government in 1954. It is a permanent arbitration institution that resolves international and domestic commercial disputes through arbitration. With its long history and outstanding achievements, CIETAC has established a leading position in Chinese arbitration and created an international brand for Chinese arbitration, becoming one of the most important and influential international arbitration institutions in the world. Over nearly 70 years since its establishment, CIETAC has accepted nearly 70,000 arbitration cases, mainly involving foreign-related matters, covering 165 countries and regions worldwide, and its arbitral awards are widely recognized and enforced globally. In 2021, CIETAC was rated as one of the top five most popular arbitration institutions globally by the authoritative International Arbitration Survey. In 2023, CIETAC received the “Top Ten Arbitration Institutions in China” and “Top Ten Arbitration Institutions for Foreign-related Services” awards in the third Arbitration Credibility Assessment, with scores of 90 and 98 respectively in the “Arbitration Credibility” and “Foreign-related Arbitration Services” indicators, both ranking first.
