“CIETAC Cup” International Commercial Arbitration Moot was founded in 2000 by CIETAC, with the original intention to cultivate talents who understand the international commercial dispute resolution mechanism and participate in the resolution of international commercial disputes. In recent years, with the further deepening of the “Belt & Road” Initiative, international commercial disputes have increased year by year, and the demand for the international arbitration market has increased. The complicated international situation and China's increasingly close to the center of the world arena requires the acceleration of the training of high-quality foreign-related legal service talents.

In view of the new development of the international environment, and on the basis of summing up the experience of holding this event in previous years, CIETAC co-organized the “CIETAC Cup” “Voice of Moot” Series Training for the first time with many well-known law firms and international organizations. The training has invited domestic and foreign lawyers and experts with rich experience in international disputes resolution. They provide guidance to young students on the application of international arbitration rules, the development of international arbitration practice and career planning, and further enhance the contestants’ understanding of hot issues in international arbitration and international trade law, so as to realize an effective convergence between theory and practice.

Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CIETAC, pointed out in the opening speech of the training that the establishment of “CIETAC Cup” is to meet the needs of China after her accession to the World Trade Organization to cultivate foreign-related legal talents. The competition has been successfully held for 18 sessions so far. Nearly 5,000 students have shown their brilliance on the field. A large number of participants have grown into important intellectual resources for enhancing the international competitiveness of the Chinese arbitration. As the earliest foreign-related arbitration institution established in China, CIETAC is committed to providing high-quality dispute resolution services to parties, while focusing on the overall promotion of the domestic rule of law and foreign-related rule of law, helping to build a community with a shared future for mankind, and attaching greater importance to the training of international legal talents. This year, CIETAC launched “CIETAC Cup” Series Training, contributing to the creation of a team of high-quality foreign-related legal service talents.
