On December 13, 2024, Gu Yan, Vice President of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), hosted a delegation led by Wang Haimin, Vice President of the Liaoning Lawyers Association, in Beijing. The two parties held discussions on how to improve communication and cooperation between lawyer’s associations and arbitration institutions, aiming at enhancing the development of legal services for international arbitration.
Vice President Gu Yan warmly welcomed Wang Haimin and his delegation, providing an overview of CIETAC's history, development, organizational structure, particularly with key aspects such as the construction of its arbitrator pool, case handling, international legal talent training, and the global recognition and enforcement of its arbitral awards. Gu Yan highlighted that lawyers, arbitrators, and arbitration institution staff collectively formed a legal professional community and play an indispensable role in advancing China’s internal rule of law and development of the arbitration industry. He expressed the commitment of CIETAC in strengthening cooperation with lawyer associations, jointly exploring new opportunities for the development of China’s international arbitration. CIETAC aims to provide legal support for Chinese companies, including those in the Northeastern provinces, as they expand globally, contributing to the high-quality development of the economy and a higher level openness to the world.

The Liaoning Lawyers Association hopes to build on CIETAC’s extensive experience in international dispute resolution and its professional and internationalized arbitrator team to further enhance its cooperation with CIETAC. This collaboration will enhance the foreign-related legal service capabilities of lawyers in Liaoning Province and jointly help to build a high-standard legal service hub for international arbitration in Northeast Asia.
